New Pediatric Clinic Ljubljana

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The New Pediatric Clinic Ljubljana is one of Slovenia's leading healthcare facilities, where reliable building operations play an important role in supporting patient care and everyday hospital activities. To help manage the complexity of the facility, Robotina implemented a centralized Building Management System (BMS) that brought key technical and infrastructure systems together within a single management environment.

Creating a Reliable Environment for Patient Care

Healthcare facilities depend on the continuous operation of numerous interconnected systems. At the New Pediatric Clinic, Robotina's BMS integrated climate control, heating and cooling infrastructure, lighting, medical gases, power distribution, backup power systems, water systems, fire protection, elevators, and energy monitoring into a unified platform. This provided maintenance and facility-management teams with a comprehensive operational overview of critical building services.

Rather than managing individual systems separately, operators gained centralized access to key information and controls, enabling more efficient monitoring of building performance and technical infrastructure across the facility. The platform consolidated data from multiple building services into a single environment, simplifying day-to-day operations and supporting effective facility management.

Supporting Reliable Healthcare Operations

The implementation established a centralized environment for monitoring and managing essential building services, helping facility teams maintain visibility over complex technical systems and respond efficiently to operational requirements. By consolidating infrastructure data into a single platform, the solution contributed to more streamlined facility management and long-term operational reliability.

Today, the project remains a strong example of how integrated building management can support demanding healthcare environments where reliability, safety, and operational continuity are essential.

Building Intelligence for Reliable Healthcare Operations

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Healthcare facilities operate around the clock, relying on hundreds of interconnected systems that must perform reliably every day. Environmental conditions, energy infrastructure, ventilation, heating, cooling, and technical services all play a critical role in supporting patient care and efficient hospital operations.

At Izola Hospital, Robotina implemented an integrated Building Management System that brings these systems together into a single intelligent platform. The solution enables centralised monitoring, operational control, alarm management, and energy oversight across the hospital's critical infrastructure.

Connecting Critical Building Systems

As healthcare facilities expand and modernise over time, technical infrastructure often becomes fragmented across different control systems and technologies. Maintaining visibility, responding to issues quickly, and optimising performance can become increasingly challenging.

Robotina addressed this by implementing an integrated Building Management System (BMS) that brings HVAC systems, hospital room controls, heating and cooling infrastructure, heat pumps, energy metering, fire system monitoring, alarm management, and legacy building systems into a unified environment. Operators and maintenance personnel gain access to real-time information, system status, and operational insights through a central building management platform and web-based interface.

The result is a connected building infrastructure that enables faster decision-making, improved operational awareness, and more efficient management of day-to-day facility operations.

Supporting Comfort, Safety and Operational Continuity

Hospitals require stable indoor conditions while maintaining uninterrupted operation. Heating, cooling, ventilation, shading, and room environments must be continuously coordinated to ensure reliable performance across patient areas and clinical facilities.

As part of the hospital's modernisation programme, advanced environmental control solutions were introduced, including radiant ceiling heating and cooling, integrated ventilation systems, automated shading control, and central management of indoor environmental conditions through the Building Management System. The platform coordinates these systems while providing operators with visibility into alarms, equipment status, and performance trends.

This integrated approach helps facility teams maintain the conditions required for healthcare operations while simplifying the management of a highly complex technical environment.

Driving Energy Performance Across the Hospital

The Building Management System formed a key component of a broader energy-efficiency transformation project at the hospital. The modernisation programme included upgrades to heating and cooling systems, heat recovery ventilation, energy monitoring, frequency-regulated equipment, heat pumps, solar energy integration, lighting improvements, façade rehabilitation, and window replacement.

By providing continuous monitoring and coordinated control of building services, the platform enables hospital operators to track energy performance, optimise system operation, and support long-term efficiency objectives. The project also introduced a central building management platform that integrates energy monitoring and operational control into everyday facility management.

A Foundation for Long-Term Healthcare Infrastructure

The project demonstrates how intelligent building management can support both operational reliability and energy performance in mission-critical healthcare environments. Through the integration of distributed automation, energy monitoring, and existing legacy systems, Robotina delivered a scalable Building Management System capable of supporting future upgrades and evolving facility requirements.

Today, the platform provides hospital staff with a unified view of critical building infrastructure while supporting efficient operation, improved maintenance processes, and the long-term development of one of Slovenia's most important healthcare facilities.
